How to use the AI Writing Detector

  1. 1Paste the full piece — longer text gives better results.
  2. 2Click Analyze Text.
  3. 3Review flagged passages and explanations.
  4. 4Discuss results with the writer before drawing conclusions.

Why long-form writing is different

In longer writing, AI drafts often follow a template: a restated prompt, three evenly sized body paragraphs, and a summary conclusion. Human writers tend to wander, return to ideas and use concrete evidence from their own reading or life.

No AI detector is 100% accurate. Results are probabilistic estimates and should never be used as the only evidence that someone used AI. Treat them as one signal alongside drafts, revision history, and a conversation with the writer.

Signals in long-form writing

In essays, reports and personal statements, the detector looks beyond single sentences. It considers whether paragraphs are suspiciously even in length, whether sentence length varies, whether the text includes specific names, numbers and dates, and whether the writer's own voice comes through in first-person and informal phrasing.

Human long-form writing often contains small detours, uneven paragraph lengths, concrete references to sources or events, and a position the writer is willing to defend. AI drafts more often present balanced, low-risk summaries of a topic.

Using results in a review process

For teachers, editors and hiring managers, a result is most useful as a guide to which passages deserve a closer look. Compare those passages with the writer's earlier work, ask how they researched and drafted the piece, and look at version history if it exists.

Writers can use the same view in reverse: check a draft before submitting, then strengthen the flagged passages with specific evidence and personal perspective.

Factors that lower reliability

Templates and rubrics, heavy grammar-tool editing, translation, and writing by non-native English speakers can all produce AI-like patterns in human text. The tool reports lower confidence in these situations, but it cannot fully correct for them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best length to check?

300 words or more gives the engine enough context. The minimum is 80 words.

Can teachers use this?

Yes, as a conversation starter. Never penalize a student on a detector score alone.

Can I upload a Word document?

Yes. DOCX, PDF and TXT files are read and analyzed in your browser; the file is never uploaded.

How is this different from the main AI Detector?

It uses the same engine with a focus on long-form writing, giving extra weight to paragraph structure and voice.

Is the text stored?

No. The analysis runs in your browser and the text never leaves your device.
